Self polycondensation:


In some cases both the reactive functional groups could be present on the some monomer in that case, it can lead to self-poly-condensation.
Example: Poly-condensation of amino ethanoic acid to form poly-ethanoamide.



Type of polycondensation:



1. AA-BB type poly-condensation:
When a pair of bi-functional monomers ( like di-carboxylic acid, di-alcohol di-carboxylic acid, di amine, di alcohol or di-halide.) undergoes poly-condensation, this is generally described as an AA-BB type poly-condensation. The reaction can be shown as-
